Comments Overheard at Philly Naked Bike Ride 2011

Note: I was reading a link about children overwhelmed with school work and of course "naked bike ride" caught my attention.  I was a little bit hesitant to click on the photo gallery for fear of catching some internet virus, but the link seemed legit and I was curious as to the idiocy of riding a bicycle naked.  (By the way, I was almost saddened to read that my friend's oldest daughter breaks down at night because she is so over-stressed with homework.  My recollections of homework are that it was ALWAYS too much and always sucked.)

Stealing from an idea by Dave L. in NYC here are 10 things overheard at this year's Philly Naked Bike Ride:

10. "Does this bike make my butt look big?"

9.   "How is this fun?!"

8.   "I wouldn't touch that if I were you"

7.   (13 year old boy) "BOOBIES!!!!!!"

6.   "Dude . . . what's up your ass?  Oh, that's your bike."

5.   "I'm in training for my naked triathlon!"

4.   "Hey Mr. Romney, may I have your autograph?"

3.   (Spouse to spouse) "You signed me up for what?"

2.    "One suggestion: 'man-scaping'!"

1.   "When I said I wanted to taste 'Schweddy Balls'.  I meant the Ben & Jerry's ice cream!"

A few additional things: apparently "Schweddy Balls is a real flavor http://www.benjerry.com/flavors/feature/schweddy/).

According to the introductory excerpt, this ride was to promote environmental consciousness and positive body image.  While I agree that a bike ride is an excellent statement on environmental consciousness, I have a sneaking suspicion it gets lost amidst the "nakedness."
I cannot have a serious conversation with a man or a woman who is completely naked.  It should be noted that it is difficult to have a comical conversation with a man or woman who is completely naked.

And yes of course I looked at the gallery of photos and here are my main two observations: 1.) The people who wore clothes cheated and should apologize to the naked people.  I don't care how cute, sexy, or funny your H&M boxers/briefs are you still are not NAKED!  2.)  A lot of the people who go around naked to promote positive body image are NOT promoting a whole lot of positivity!
